Tuner
Laura Clifford @ Reeling Reviews
- Excerpt: Cowriter/director Daniel Roher leans heavily into contrivance to connect his screenplay’s dots, but elicits such complex and likable performances from his ensemble in his first foray into narrative feature filmmaking that he makes it all work

Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D)
- Excerpt: And roping in James Cameron during a break from Avatar post-production is such a baller coup and his dorky admiration for her is charming to witness, sitting opposite her on a couch with a big ol’ camera rigged to his shoulder. Cameron is such a deeply sincere person that I really want to believe he’s genuine.
Decorado
Jared Mobarak @ Hey, have you seen …?
- Excerpt: What I really love about Decorado, however, is that the surrealism coexists with the horror. The absurdity of the animation only augments the inherent absurdity of their dystopian society.
Driver’s Ed
- Excerpt: Four high school seniors impulsively “borrow” a driver’s ed car from their school and go off on a journey to Chapel Hill in a movie from director Bobby Farrelly that just about makes up for its predictability with its unpretentiousness. This is a “just go with it” movie, with paper-thin characters and contrived situations, but it invites us to go along for the ride.
Jared Mobarak @ Hey, have you seen …?
- Excerpt: Too much felt stilted and unsure—a stark contrast to the young cast who do a wonderful job imbuing innocence, uncertainty, and sorrow without falling into depression.
In the Grey
Chris Barsanti @ Slant Magazine
- Excerpt: In the Grey has a jaunty spirit that cuts against the dour grain of many modern action films.
Mark Hobin @ Fast Film Reviews
- Excerpt: The latest episode in Guy Ritchie’s ongoing “Handsome Operatives Recover Money While Trading Witty One-Liners in Exotic Locations” cinematic universe.
Kartavya
Kathy Gibson @ Access Bollywood
Lorne
Gregory Carlson @ southpawfilmworks.net
Magic Hour
Jared Mobarak @ The Film Stage
- Excerpt: A wonderful showcase for Aselton as an actor. She has written an emotionally complex role that’s built to provide her a stage with which to let loose and feel the roller coaster that is life beside another human while enduring fate’s cruel hand.
Marama
Matt Oakes @ Silver Screen Riot
- Excerpt: Taratoa Stappard filters a familiar gothic horror story through a pointed Maori cultural lens with Marama, a feature whose rage-fueled subtext proves more compelling than its genre mechanics.
The Midway Point
Phenomena
- Excerpt: You know what? It’s great that there is a documentary for stoners and acid trippers. Non-fiction for all, I say!
Remarkably Bright Creatures
Mark Hobin @ Fast Film Reviews
- Excerpt: The developments won’t surprise many viewers, but as a gentle, easygoing Netflix drama, you could certainly do worse.
Reminders of Him
Silent Friend
Laura Clifford @ Reeling Reviews
- Excerpt: Ildikó Enyedi’s poetic reflection on the interconnectedness of the natural world and man’s attempts to interpret it with machines weaves through three separate generations, all photographed on different media by cinematographer Gergely Pálos

Astérix and Obélix: The Big Fight
Sebastian Zavala @ NoEsEnSerie.com [Spanish]
- Excerpt: It has the same absurd tone as the original comics, mixing it with brilliant wordplay, very funny supporting characters, and new parodies.
Ciao UFO
- Excerpt: “Ciao UFO” is an excellent mainstream movie, well shot, directed, and acted, managing its nostalgic elements with restraint, ultimately resulting in a work that is both engaging and easy to watch.
Everyone Is Lying to You for Money
Dennis Schwartz @ dennisschwartzreviews
- Excerpt: A pleasing, engaging and informative investigative reporting documentary on the dangers of cryptocurrency.
Four Letters of Love
The King of Color
- Excerpt: I’m not sure Herbert is particularly interesting enough to warrant a full documentary about himself, as important as he may be to the history of colour and design. Nor do I think the film really goes above and beyond the call of duty in telling his story beyond hitting all of the beats that one might expect.
2024 Films
Devastated
- Excerpt: While “Devastated” is certainly not an easy watch, there is no denying its impact on the viewer. Director Ashish Avikunthak has created a provocative, often uncomfortable feature about how people get away with murder within a system allowing it.
Out of Nowhere
- Excerpt: “Out of Nowhere” has its issues, and occasionally, in an effort to highlight the mess of film productions, ends up being messy itself. At the same time, the energy, the slapstick humor, and the critique of the business of filmmaking, including elements of self-deprecation, results in a movie that can be appreciated on a number of levels, while remaining entertaining for the majority of its duration.
Upgraded
Weekend in Taipei
