Living on Camera: Madonna’s Game of Truth or Dare Turns 35
- Excerpt: These behind-the-scenes sequences though are where much of the films more scandalous content is. Madonna fellating a beer bottle, playing teenage party games in bed with her crew, Madonna shading Belinda Carlisle and having weird interactions with family and old friends, and a sequence about sexual assault that plays very differently today that it would have then.
Toshiaki Toyoda Tribute: The Essential Films of Japan’s Punk Auteur
- Excerpt: Toshiaki Toyoda hardly needs an introduction to fans of Japanese cinema. Since his debut in 1999 with “Pornostar”, he has been acknowledged as one of the most original filmmakers in the country. With films like “Blue Spring”, “Hanging Garden” and “9 Souls” he became internationally known, as his films continue to screen in festivals all over the world. Reviews of Short Films
A Quiet Storm (2025)
- Excerpt: Overall, Nicolas’s approach in “A Quiet Storm”, both in terms of direction and audiovisual style, allows the movie to move between fiction and documentary particularly well. It highlights the main theme adequately while offering entertainment aplenty. All in all, this is a very competent effort, and in a style that we do not get to see frequently.
The War of Jan Ken Pon (1971)
- Excerpt: Filled with energy, provocation, and much style, “The War of Jan-Ken-Pon” is a memorable short that highlights both the style of Shuji Terayama and that of ATG productions.
