Reviews: About Last Night (2014)

about_last_nightReviews for this film from our members:

  • Jason Bailey @ Flavorwire
    • Excerpt: We probably shouldn’t take the new About Last Night’s debt to its predecessor all that seriously — goodness knows it doesn’t seem to care much about doing justice to either that movie or the David Mamet play Sexual Perversity in Chicago, which both films are ostensibly based upon. But it does make for a fascinating case study in how totally warped stage-to-screen adaptations can become, and how often they reflect their period.
  • Laura Clifford @ Reeling Reviews
    • Excerpt: while the circumstances which challenge true love mostly ring true, it’s difficult to stay as invested in morose tension (especially when the female half of the equation is depressingly projected as a kill joy), than Kevin Hart dressed as a “Magic Mike” stripper.
  • Susan Granger @ www.susangranger.com
    • Excerpt: A broader, more serviceable remake, transitioning from risque to raunchy.
  • Mark Hobin @ Fast Film Reviews
    • Excerpt: Argumentative Bernie and Joan are fun to watch. Their shouted dialogue is delivered machine gun style at each other in rapid succession without breath.
  • Travis Hopson @ Punch Drunk Critics
    • Excerpt: There probably weren’t a lot of people clamoring for an About Last Night remake, but this one is fresh enough to hold up well on its own.
  • Benjamin Kramer @ The Voracious Filmgoer
  • Kristin Dreyer Kramer @ NightsAndWeekends.com
  • [New – 3/20/14] | Ross Miller @ Thoughts On Film
    • Excerpt: An insufferably self-satisfied anti-rom-com featuring lewd humour of the lowest kind and a horrendously misjudged portrayal of romance.
  • Phil Villarreal @ COED.com
