- Excerpt: We probably shouldn’t take the new About Last Night’s debt to its predecessor all that seriously — goodness knows it doesn’t seem to care much about doing justice to either that movie or the David Mamet play Sexual Perversity in Chicago, which both films are ostensibly based upon. But it does make for a fascinating case study in how totally warped stage-to-screen adaptations can become, and how often they reflect their period.
