Reviews for this film from our members:
- Jason Bailey @ DVD Talk
- Excerpt: I’ve yet to see a film that wasn’t better because Melanie Lynskey was in it; I’ve also yet to see a film that seemed to take full advantage of her gifts. ‘Hello I Must Be Going,’ thankfully, is that film, and the fact that someone was finally smart enough to give Lynskey a hearty leading role is reason enough to excuse the picture’s occasional faults.

- Excerpt: At the end of this hello/goodbye, we’d have to say that though it’s a sweet visit … it’s not as memorable as we’d hoped.
- [New – 2/28] | Jamie S. Rich @ DVD Talk
- Excerpt: At first glance, Hello I Must Be Going may appear to be your standard indie fare, but those who take a chance and plug the film into their DVD player will find an emotionally rich drama about mid-life detours awaits. An amazing cast, led by a raw performance from the charming Melanie Lynskey, brings to life the struggles of several different strata of people, young to old, struggling with their places in life, seeking clues to what their next moves will be.
- Cole Smithey @ ColeSmithey.com
- Excerpt: Director Todd Louiso dives into Noah Baumbach’s trademark waist-deep waters of thirtysomething identity crisis, and comes up with a pearl.
- Andrew Wyatt @ Look / Listen (St. Louis Magazine)
- Excerpt: Lynskey’s sparkling presence is not necessarily the only appealing aspect of Hello I Must Be Going, but she is absolutely the best thing the film has going for it by a enormous margin. With her wide-eyed glances and sour-apple grimaces, she is both achingly funny and a rich source of authentic pathos.
