Reviews for this film from our members:
- Rick Aragon @ Rick’s Cafe Texan
- Excerpt: I found it a great disappointment, a bit boring, and while everyone gave it their best shot it fails to be anything other than a minor PIXAR work that will eventually be merchandised away from whatever proto-feminist message it attempted to sell.
- Luke Bonanno @ DVDizzy.com
- Excerpt: There is just a thoughtful and moderately touching tale of family and free will. It’s a typical course for a somewhat typical independent heroine, which is a bit less than you crave from Pixar’s foray into period storytelling and princess fairy tales.
- Tim Brayton @ Antagony & Ecstasy
- Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat @ SpiritualityandPractice.com
- Excerpt: The freedom quest of a feisty Celtic princess with a jungle of wild red hair.

- Excerpt: Puede que Brave no sea la mejor película en la historia de Pixar, pero ciertamente merece figurar entre las mejores.
- Kevin Carr @ 7M Pictures
- Samuel Castro @ Ochoymedio.info [Spanish]
- Excerpt: Pixar, which thanks to its history is still king among the producers of animation, brings us a story of a princess that looks a little too close to the Disney Princesses

- Rich Cline @ Shadows on the Wall
- Excerpt: The screenplay cleverly handles resonant issues without hammering the message
- Tony Dayoub @ Cinema Viewfinder
- Jim Dixon @ Examiner.com
- Excerpt: A successful combination of classic, animated Disney fantasy and 21st century technology, Pixar’s “Brave” is easily one of the best movies of a crowded summer. But the Disney influence here is stronger than any previous Pixar movie.

- Excerpt: Finally! Pixar gives us a fully fledged, well-rounded, beautifully developed female protagonist, with a complex, provocative personal journey that is hers alone. A film of her own!

- Excerpt: With Brave, Pixar proves it not only knows how to tell stories outside of its wheelhouse, but even knows how to embellish and improve the very medium that, for 70 years remained largely unchanged.

- Excerpt: Brave is the most disappointing Pixar film ever made.

- Excerpt: Brave is certainly a significant improvement upon Cars 2, even if it doesn’t necessarily measure up the finest films in the Pixar stable. Part of the problem is the sense that, for the first time, the studio is telling a story that isn’t really their own. I know that particular films in the studio’s history owe a great deal to certain influences (The Incredibles to The Fantastic Four, for example), but Brave really feels like the studio is very much trying to put its own take on the conventional “Disney Princess” movie. While the results are certainly interesting, it never feels like Braveis entirely comfortable with itself. While the film is, technically speaking, quite impressive, it does feel like it never quite strikes the right balance.
