- Excerpt: The dark side of becoming a teenage superhero is the subject of “Chronicle,” the latest movie to exploit the over-used “found footage” device. Would the average teenager, given powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men, put on tights and fight crime? The answer here is emphatically no, and the results are closer to a fifties science fiction monster movie than “Spider-Man.”

- Excerpt: Quibbles aside, Chronicle sets a new bar in the ‘found footage’ genre … and for that alone, we have to give it a cam-thumbs’ up.

- Excerpt: Chronicle is a B-movie in both length – it caps off as barely 80 minutes long, not counting credits – and essential creed, in spite of the glitzy special effects, as clever and dexterous spin on the screen-hogging glut of superhero flicks. Chronicle develops a basic theme with a reasonable, if hardly watertight, internal logic that is both intelligent and beguilingly unpretentious.
