- Excerpt: If one looks at Act of Valor as a celebration of SEALs courage, then it is a good film. If one looks at Act of Valor as an actual film, it has a lot to answer for.

- Excerpt: “Act of Valor” is an old-fashioned war movie with stunning action sequences. Old-fashioned is a key word here. It’s almost as though the nineteen forties have suddenly acquired a rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack. Technically this is a very well-crafted actioner with really big toys on loan from the Department of Defense that effectively camouflage the low budget. You can’t look cheap with real helicopters, real planes and even a real submarine for props. This is a movie that’s going to live or die on its action sequences, and they do not disappoint. Lean, mean and explosive, “Act of Valor” delivers the thrills, but adds little else to the combat genre.
