The Samurai Trilogy
Roderick Heath @ Ferdy on Films
- Excerpt: The Samurai trilogy is probably Hiroshi Inagaki’s best-known work, however, a grand, richly textured, folkloric take on the life of Miyamoto Musashi as mediated by a fictionalised novel by Eiji Yoshikawa and its stage adaptation by Hideji Hojo. Inagaki at once mythologises and presents a profoundly ambivalent analysis of the life of Musashi, surely the most famous samurai of all time.
Zazie dans le Metro
Gregory J. Smalley @ 366 Weird Movies
- Excerpt: If a mad scientist found a way to cross-breed Luis Buñuel and Charlie Chaplin, ‘Zazie dans le Metro’ is the movie the mutant hybrid would direct.

The Opposite Sex
Rick Aragon @ Rick’s Cafe Texan
- Excerpt: Essentially the same plot as The Women, The Opposite Sex allows for some musical numbers to slip in, and while sadly not in the league of The Women, The Opposite Sex is not a bad way to spend a dull afternoon.
Reality
- Excerpt: If you didn’t like Dupieux’ previous films, like Rubber and Wrong, Reality will not work for you. If you enjoyed his canon so far, this is a must-see.

Troma’s War
Gregory J. Smalley @ 366 Weird Movies
- Excerpt: Between firing thousands of blank rounds and bursting hundreds of blood squibs, blowing up watchtowers and lighting up stuntmen in flame-retardant suits, ‘War’ occasionally fools itself into thinking its a real action movie rather than an absurd spoof.
