Pre-2020 Film Reviews
26 years (2012)
- Excerpt: Despite the fact that the story gets overboard on its drama and the way the finale unfolds, “26 Years” remains a very entertaining film that also manages to highlight the trauma of the Gwangju Massacre, even if through excessiveness.
Aayirathil Oruvan (2010)
- Excerpt: Evidently, each part will probably appeal to different audiences based on its basic elements, but as a whole, “Aayirathil Oruvan” is a truly great action adventure movie, and one of those that definitely deserves to be watched on the big screen.
Asako in Ruby Shoes (2000)
- Excerpt: The movie, though, shows its age, while its duration is not exactly ideal. There is fun to be had here, nevertheless, while film buffs will probably get a kick of seeing Lee Jung-jae and Kim Min-hee in the beginning of their career, under a whole different light than they are today.
Chungking Express (1994)
- Excerpt: Not much more to say, “Chungking Express” is one of the greatest films of all time, a must-watch for every fan of cinema.
Nayakan (1987)
- Excerpt: Not much more to say, “Nayakan” is an excellent movie that time does not seem to have dulled in any way, and a testament to the quality of the Tamil movies.
Si3 (2017)
- Excerpt: “Si3” could have been a fun-only film of the highest level, much like HK action comedies used to be, but in the end, the excessiveness that characterizes all of its aspects ends up harming even the entertainment factor here. Definitely deserves a partial watch, however, as a number of individual scenes are bound to make any viewer laugh, even if not for the same reasons.
