Directors whose films you anticipate . . .
Let's talk directors. What' film artists do you look forward to? Which ones do you respond to the most? More importantly, why?

Re: Directors whose films you anticipate . . .
Good topic.
I've always sat up straight for the films of Quentin Tarantino, even when I've not enjoyed them overly. Something about his energetic, film-loving style blows my head open.
Woody Allen is a favourite of mine. His films have a quiet brilliance and a generous wit that so few modern filmmakers bring about. Love him.
Marty Scorsese is one of the masters and Steven Soderbergh always has an interesting take (Haywire stunned me silent).
Also, Paul Thomas Anderson, Wes Anderson, Kim Ki-duk (the 3-Iron guy, not the Five Marines guy), Roman Polanski, Tran Anh Hung, Hayao Miyazaki, Errol Morris, Werner Herzog, Alexander Payne (great writing, too), and Wong Kar-wai. Yeesh, that's a fair bit.

I am a fan of Erroll Morris. His films are always so abstract and bizarre that you find yourself drawn into them.

Yes indeed. Gates of Heaven is a masterpiece.
