Re: The Worst Films Ever Made . . .

I usually know I'm going to see a bad film and just don't have much choice about it. As an editor, it's my job to catch the films that no-one on my staff is willing to cover. It's one of those problems that people don't consider when they insist this is a dream job.

Ken, there are separate boards in these forums for members. You'll need to email the committee and get them to mark your account so you can access them.

Re: Welcome to the OFCS

Glad to finally meet you guys. I had problems getting my account set up properly (I think my email address was bouncing) so it took a while to sort, but that's it done now.

I'm Jennie, I'm 39, I'm Glaswegian, and I write (and edit) for Eye For FIlm.

Re: Prometheus

Re: The Worst Films Ever Made . . .

There are probably worse things out there, but I hope I never discover them; the worst I ever had to sit through was Meet The Spartans . I've had a few unpleasant surgical experiences without anaesthetic in my time (it turns out my body doesn't respond to one group of drugs) and that film was about ...

Re: Why do you love the movies?

I'm interested in stories, in the things they say about us and in the ways we look at and explore ourselves. Cinema is a reflexive process that may still be young but that is, as they say, standing on the shoulders of giants. It's a form of literature, of philosophy, and even in its crudest forms a ...

Re: The Verdict: The Dark Knight Rises

I was disappointed by that wrap-around approach in many ways. It was too heavy-handed and contributed to the impression that this film was riding on the coat-tails of two much stronger entries. A bit of circularity can be nice, yes, but spare us the twee repeats of earlier material, milking every dr...

Re: The New Sight & Sound Poll . . .

Vertigo has long been my favourite Hitchcock, for all that I admire the Gothic surrealism of The Birds or the sheer craft of Rear Window . Although I'm not sure I'd seriously call it the best film ever, I do think it's better than Citizen Kane and, furthermore, the standout film on this particular ...
