ABOUT COLE SMITHEY
After studying acting, dramaturgy, set and costume design, screenwriting, and filmmaking at San Diego State University, Hartnell College, and City College of San Francisco, Cole Smithey turned to a life of film criticism in 1997 when he moved from California to Manhattan to dedicate himself to the craft of writing. Danny Boyle’s “Trainspotting” was the first film he reviewed.
Years of experience freelancing for the Alternative Press and the international magazine market led to the development of ColeSmithey.com which features an extensive archive of video essays on current and classic cinema, as well as text reviews and editorial articles.
